I walked through Bryant Park the other day and came upon a man eating a sponge in front of a small, loose group. 
 
"Why is he eating a sponge?" I asked a friendly-looking hobo who'd greeted me with a nod as I approached. 
 
"Ain't sure," he replied. "Somebody said it was art but it just looks like a sponge from here."
